See an Introductory Testimonial about Daniela Trattoria.

Whenever I am in the Theater District, which is quite often, I stop at Daniela Trattoria for a Pre-Theater or After-Theater dinner, or, most often, takeout, which is always perfect and abundant. Patrick, Daniela's Manager, oversees the floors (downstairs and upstairs) and the busy kitchen, to take care of the restaurant's hundreds of loyal fans. For Spanish-speaking guests, the Daniela wait staff is mostly from Latin America and South America, bringing dynamic vibrancy and warmth to the dining spaces. The music is retro Sinatra era and Italian ballads, adding a soothing romantic flair to the ambiance. Candles, exposed brick, and photos of Italy provide a welcome respite from the bustle of Eighth Avenue. I recently treated my longtime hair stylist, Mauricio, to dinner at Daniela, before we headed to Broadway for "King Kong" the Musical. The photos below illustrate our soup appetizers, plus Mauricio's Gratinated Filet of Sole with Clams & Asparagus, and my Clams Oreganata (I dine lightly before the theater). We dined under decorative red lights, thus the reflections and ambiant redness. Also below are additional photos from recent visits to Daniela.

Daniela Trattoria has fantastic Homemade Pastas, like Gnocchi Alla Trevisana, Mamma Rosa's Lasagna, and Risotto Alla Chef. Daniela, a family-owned restaurant, named for one of its Proprietors, also serves homemade, brick oven pizzas, like Salsiccia, made with sausage, mozzarella, and tomato sauce, Ortolana, made with grilled vegetables, mozzarella, and tomatoes, and Abruzzesa, made with spiced salami, tomatoes, and mozzarella. Imported Pasta dishes include Orecchiette Baresi, with broccoli rabe, Italian sausage, and garlic, Farfalle e Salmone, with salmon, asparagus, and light cream tomato sauce, Spaghetti Puttanesca, with anchovies, black olives, capers, and garlic tomato sauce, or Penne Alla Vodka, with a touch of vodka, cream, and fresh tomato sauce.

Daniela Trattoria's expansive and inviting menu also includes abundant Entrées like Grilled Steak and Grilled Pork Chop, with a variety of potato and vegetable sides, as well as Specialties, like Veal or Chicken Scarpariello, with lemon, white wine, and vinegar peppers, Carbone, with artichokes and sun-dried tomato, Marsala, with mushrooms and marsala wine sauce, and Daniela, with a slice of tomato, fresh mozzarella, and light brown sauce. You can also dine lightly or order sharing appetizers, choosing from Clams Oreganata, baked with parmesan cheese and garlic, Zuppa di Mussels, one of my favorites, with white wine, garlic, and tomato sauce, Portabello Mushrooms, served generously, with balsamic reduction, or, on these cold days and nights, Fresh Chicken Soup. You will find Italian desserts, cappuccinos and espressos, and wine and beer, as well, to enhance your dining experience.

Daniela Trattoria is designed with natural, exposed brick walls, large retro photos of Italian lifestyle, and even an upstairs party room for all your social and business events. The upstairs even has its own bar and solid wood-brick décor. You can cater a fantastic Daniela-prepared event in the party room or at home. This Holiday season, Daniela's vibrant spaces are all decked out for the Holidays and New Year's. Call Daniela Trattoria at 212.869.3585, and reserve a table for pre- or post-theatre or for a casual afternoon or evening out for one, two, or more. And, call Daniela Trattoria to cater your home entertaining or to discuss options for your Holiday parties for family, friends, or business. Tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com!
