On one of the recently tropical, New York evenings, I was in the mood for fantastic Sushi, and there's no restaurant that creates gorgeous sushi, with artistic flair, like A A Jing, on 9th Avenue, between 47th and 48th Streets. Janet, and her assistant, Annie, greeted me with a glass of crisp, chilled, white zinfandel wine. I was fascinated with one of the two house sushi chefs, who was creating an A A Jing Sashimi Entrée, with 18 pieces of the chef's choice assorted sashimi. These house chefs create flowers, carved from vegetables, and add blue lights to the tray's ornamentations.

My first course was a Shrimp Ceviche, with shrimp, mango, avocado, red onions, lime juice, and spices. It had green leaf ornamentations and was elegantly presented. Everything on the plate was fresh and gourmet quality. My entrée (most of which I had wrapped for later in the evening) was the Salmon Dream, Fusion Roll, made with spicy, crunchy salmon and squash, topped with more fresh salmon, all sushi quality. Of course, this plate, too, was presented with a carved, edible flower. As a treat, Janet brought out double scoops of Lemongrass Ice Cream, with swirls of whipped cream and dripped chocolate. Not only was this a refreshingly cool dinner, but the experience was relaxing. Music is piped in throughout the restaurant.

A A Jing, in addition to the full sushi and sashimi menu, has another full menu for Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and even some Indian cuisine. Lunch specials are served from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday (except holidays), with two courses, very reasonably priced. Dinner menus include intriguing dishes, like Pork Wrapped Asparagus and Avocado Egg Rolls for appetizers, Kaneohe Prawns and South China Pineapple Curry Chicken for entrées. They even serve vegetarian and Thai noodle dishes, like Mapo Tofu (in spicy Szechuan sauce) and Pad Kee-Mao (Thai style Chow Fun Noodles). Japanese Tempura, Teriyaki, and Bento Box Lunches and Dinners are also on the menu. You can order Green Tea Ice Cream or Lychee Sorbet, among a range of desserts.

Stop by A A Jing, open every day, and mention for a free glass of wine with dinner. You can also order lunch or dinner delivery, online, from their website. A A Jing can also cater your home entertaining or special event!
