Casellula Cheese & Wine Café opens every evening at 5:00 PM and closes at 2:00 AM, so it's the perfect before-Broadway, Lincoln Center, or Jazz at Lincoln Center hot spot. Even at 5:00 PM, where I met Amy Halpin, General Manager of the Broadway branch of TD Bank, this bustling Café is packed, with loyal patrons arriving for choice wines, cheeses, meats, and salads. We were meeting before The Miracle Worker at Circle in the Square, and Casellula was perfectly located for our before-theatre, light dining.
Our cheese platter, enhanced with condiments, included: Pavé Sauvage Goat Cheese, from Perigord, France, Monte Veronese DOP di Malga, from Italy, and Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue, from Oregon. Our meat platter, also enhanced with condiments, included: Porcini Salami, Bresaola, and Mortadella. Amy's red wine was Melipal Malbec, from Mendoza, Argentina, and my white wine was Shaya Verdejo from Spain. Brian Keyser, Casellula's Proprietor, joined us, and we had a great time. When you go to Casellula, before-theatre or concert, ask for Brian Keyser, and tell him you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com!
