A new museum is about to be born! The Terra Foundation for American Art, with the collaboration of the Musée d’Orsay in France, is about to bring forth a new art entity, the
Musée des Impressionnismes – Giverny.
Against the glorious backdrop of the largest Tiffany dome in the world, Jean-Louis Destans, Président du Conseil Général de l’Eure, the district where the Musée des Impressionnismes – Giverny will make its home, expressed his hearty wish for a global emphasis in the new museum.
Opening in May 2009, the museum is a partnership between the United States, France, and their respective agencies to create an international center for world-wide Impressionism. Located in the existing structure that currently displays American Art, the “strong ambition for the new museum is focus on an international presence.” As a first exhibition, The Evolution of Monet’s Garden will be an enticing introduction for shows to follow.
