(See a Review of the April 11, 2007 Wine Wednesday).

Patelson Music House, founded by Joseph Patelson in 1947, tonight presented another live music event. Tonight’s jazz musicians, Bernard Rose & Company, included Bernard on sax and flute, Tom DiPietra on guitar, and Ray Parker on bass. They played standards, New Orleans-infused pieces, and audience requests. Since it was a rainy night, they played “Here’s that Rainy Day”, a favorite of the late Johnny Carson. Marsha Patelson joined in on “Over the Rainbow” among other ballads, and the Patelson guests browsed the eclectic sheet music collection of Broadway melodies, classical sonatas, and jazz standards. This was again a complimentary Open House, hosted by Marsha Patelson, and staff was on hand to help serve wine, cheese, and turkey wraps.

The next Patelson Jazz event, part of the Wine Wednesday series, is June 13, 2007, with River Alexander's Mad Jazz Hatters: River Alexander on vocals, guitar, chromatic harmonica, and jaw harp, Jeff Hudgins on saxophone and clarinet, and Debbie Kennedy on bass. This complimentary evening begins at 5:30 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
