This is a mellow, upbeat CD with smooth listening, engaging solos, and well-fused instrumentations. Very recently recorded, this CD exemplifies the versatility and skill of the trio, with original compositions, as well as those of Charlie Parker, Luis Bonfa, Kenny Barron, and Carl Fischer/Bill Carey.

Notable tracks:

#1 – Quiet Spirit - Composed by Mike Camoia. With a tenor sax entrance and finale, there is much to enjoy in this CD. Newcomb’s soulful guitar solos are joined by Shaich’s bluesy bass in a midnight, cool sound.

#3 – Take Me There – Composed by Larry Newcomb. A buoyant and echoing sax merges with soft guitar – bass chords. The theme is playful and wistful, and Newcomb is a new jazz guitar composer on the scene with this warm melody.

#5 – Gentle Rain – Composed by Luis Bonfa. With a rumba rhythm, this track does speak of Gentle Rain in sensual syncopation. Newcomb’s long languorous riff melts into Shaich’s solo, with some breathy tenor sax intonations.

#6 – Au Privave – Composed by Charlie Parker. A saxophone showcase, this rapidly paced track allows for Camoia to shine, as he eventually gives way to Newcomb’s incandescent interlude. Shaich adds interest with his contrasting solo, and Charlie Parker is celebrated.
