Produced by Doug Richardson and Taeko Fukao.

This CD is a lovely collection of well-known and lesser known ballads, plus a song in tribute to vocalist, Taeko’s native Japan. The tracks were recorded over two years, with some fascinating mixing and special tonal effects. Doug Richardson, Co-Producer, also plays piano and drums, with two additional pianists featured, Harry Whitaker and Misha Tsiganov. Gaku Takanashi and Dwayne Burno perform on bass. A special elegance is inherent in this recording.

Notable tracks:

#3 – Dindi – Composed by A.C. Jobim/L. Oliveira/R. Gilbert. This uncluttered track features Taeko stretching her vocals across key, with upward and downward elasticity of tone. Piano, bass, and drums accompany Taeko softly in this elongated, languid, yearning song. Taeko has dedicated the entire recording to her brother’s memory, and this track expresses heartfelt emotion.

#6 – Hoshi-No Love Letter – Composed by Miya. This song, sung like a lullaby in Japanese, features Harry Whitaker on piano, Gaku Takanashi on bass, and Doug Richardson on drums. Taeko sings with lyrical poignancy and tonal clarity.

#9 – People Make the World Go Round – Composed by T.R. Bell/L. Creed. Bass repetitions give this track an eerie, mesmerizing fascination, while Taeko’s vocals echo as well. Momentum builds in the timing, with hypnotic musicality and melodic phrasing.

#11 – One Love – Composed by B. Marley. Taeko and Doug Richardson team for harmonizing vocals in this title tune, which was also briefly introduced on Track #1. Solo piano accompaniment gives the vocal harmony a sense of spontaneity in this condensed track.
